He was born June 15, 1943, in Robeson County, the son of Clarence Jenkins Owens and Dehlia Mae Owens. In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by his brothers, J.W., Clarence and Bobby.
Neil is survived by his loving wife Carol Fisher Owens of 49 years; his “girls”, Nina Baker (Bill), Carolin Strickland (Rob), Bobbi Jordan (Jeff); grandchildren; Matt Strickland (Brandy), Misty Kearns (Johnathan), Christopher “Bucks” Owens, James Kearns (Kim), Brittany Jordan, Josh Jordan, Chris Jordan and his great grandchildren, Zachary Jordan and Bella Strickland, His sister Martha Canady (Richard) and many nieces and nephews.
Neil Served in the Army for 3 years and the Reserves for 7 years. He loved to spend time with his bride and his girls. He also loved to fish, garden and work on vehicles.
Neil worked with Burlington Mills for several years until he and his family moved to Wilmington, where he worked with Sneeden Inc. for over 25 years.
The family will receive friends at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park with a Funeral service at Noon. Pastor Rob Strickland will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
