Maxine, also known as “Mackie,” was such a beautiful soul; she found joy in everything she did. She loved to laugh which made people she came into contact with instantly love her. She was an extremely strong and independent woman.
In 1969, Maxine graduated with a degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse at Wyckoff Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, a drug counselor at Kingsbrook Medical Center, and also BedStuy Sobering up Station where she met her life-long friend. She was a nurse for over 35 years.
In 1975, Maxine married Eric Rooks and continued nurturing her husband and her 4 beautiful daughters who she considered her gifts.
Family has always been a priority to her. She had unconditional love for her 12 grandchildren (whom she called her munchkins): Terel, Katrina, Denise, Tyeise, Dante, Candice, Miles, Gedalia, Zaria, Anthony, Davon, and Tristan; her 9 great-grandchildren (whom she called her crumbs): Kiara, Jakir, Zikaorii, Jamir, Trinise, Brielle, Lyrik, Mehki, and Skyla; and her 1 great-great-grandson: Sy’hir
She leaves to mourn: her husband Eric Rooks, daughters: Michelle Willimas, Mildred Rooks, Yolanda Randolph, and Erica Daughtry (Rob Daughtry), brother: Virgel Fincher (Joyce Bradford), 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and close friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her mother: Mary Fincher, father: John Fincher, sisters: Betty Williams and Shelia Moore, brother: Phillip Fincher, and grandson: Dante Randolph.
