Mrs. Martha Stewart Saunders, age 91, of Wilmington, NC went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Mrs. Saunders was born November 21, 1922 in New Hanover County, the daughter of the late George Thomas and Evalena Johnson Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy C. Saunders; a brother Thomas Stewart; and four sisters, Vivian Stewart, Louise Thomas, Fannie Pate and Sarah Peed.
Mrs. Saunders was a lifelong member of Sea Gate Baptist Church.
She is survived by a brother, Herbert Edwin Stewart (Carrie); sister, Hulda Willett (L.J.), both of Wilmington; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Graveside service will be Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Dondi Pace officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the cemetery.
