Mallory grew up in Roseland, NJ with her parents and siblings, Jenny, Kimmy, Billy and Keri. Mallory attended Lester C. Noecker Elementary School, where her amazing teachers orchestrated a loving and compassionate atmosphere that allowed her to thrive. She made many friends and enjoyed the comforts that a small town had to offer. Her love of sports started at a young age by participating in various programs offered by the recreation department. Mallory would continue to excel in sports for years to come. She played club soccer and softball for many years. She loved her teammates and coaches and the many places she traveled for games/tournaments. It was a commitment with many rewards.
Mallory’s strong academic accomplishments from Noecker to West Essex Middle School allowed her to gain acceptance at nationally recognized Newark Academy High School (Class of 2018). Mallory became a student athlete for Newark Academy, she started Varsity softball and soccer for all four years. Through these activities, valuable relationships were built with friends, teammates, teachers, administration and coaches. These four years of experiences were immeasurable which helped shape her into the wonderful young woman she would become. Mallory attended Franklin and Marshall college from 2018-2021. She played collegiate level soccer her first year and soon after declared her major in Sociology and government. She was a member of Alpha Phi (PC 2019). She made friends that became like family; friends that are also grieving the loss of her beautiful life.
Although she was admired for her outstanding athletic ability and accomplishments, they did not define her time on Earth nor will they be what people remember most about Mallory. She was quiet and soft spoken, but her kind nature, calming demeanor and soft, beautiful smile made everyone gravitate towards her. Once she opened up, Mallory was one of the most fun people to be around. She was quick witted and had a dry, sarcastic and intellectual sense of humor. She could also be goofy and playful, a side of herself that she didn’t show to many people, mostly reserved for her family, especially her four siblings, and close friends. Her hobbies and interests were extensive. She loved movies, especially horror movies, and gave the best movie recommendations. Mallory was an avid music listener, as she was well-versed in music from just about every genre and decade. She would spend hours making different playlists for every occasion. Mallory, from a very young age, until recent, amazed us with her art and creativity. She sketched, painted and created collages that were complex and beautiful. Mallory was truly a life-long learner, and was motivated in her pursuit of knowledge. She was particularly interested in politics, government, philosophy, and Christianity. She was finishing up her degree online at Liberty University and working part time.
It was in these past few years of her short life, Mallory found fulfillment in Christ. She viewed life from the perspective of being created and sustained by God. Mallory accepted and trusted in God’s plan for her life. She believed that when we die bodily, we remain alive in Christ. For this reason, the new testament refers to the death of the believer as sleep. Sleep peacefully beautiful, precious Mallory.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, William Shaw Sr. and Debra (Newsome) Shaw; her sisters, Jennifer Shaw, Kimberly Shaw and Keri Shaw and her brother William Shaw Jr. Our hearts will forever be broken. She also leaves behind her grandfather, Walter Shaw as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teammates, teachers and coaches that will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Barbara A. Adorna, Joseph T. Newsome and Margaret F. Shaw.
