Linda Rochelle Morris was born on November 13, 1950 in the Bronx, NY to Rev. James A. Morris, Sr. and Virginia Angelina Morris, both whom preceded her in death. Linda had an impeccable sense of style and an insanely quick, humorous wit. She was smart, dependable, supportive, loving, compassionate, and had a smile that could light up the darkest of rooms.
Raised in New York City, Linda attended PS 42, JHS 198, Far Rockaway High School. As an adult, Linda relocated to Chicago with her family and attended Harold Washington College and Mundelein College, which she received her Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and professional certifications, respectively. She would embark a forty plus year career in various administrative roles across the legal, financial and healthcare industries. After retiring in 2011, Linda would say that her greatest accomplishments were her faith in God and her two children: Julian and Rochelle.
Linda accepted Christ as a teenager and began her life’s journey with God. She became a classical trained pianist while also playing piano for her local church and at the age of sixteen performed at the world-famous Carnegie Hall. Through the years, she became a woman who had an abiding faith in God and worked diligently to pass on that same dedication to her children.
Early in the morning on December 31, 2020, Linda Rochelle Morris entered into life eternal in the same quiet and peaceful way in which she lived. Linda was a dedicated mother, a proud grandmother, a loyal daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. Linda's light, love and laughter will be profoundly missed, but we are comforted in knowing that she is resting in the arms of the Savior.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by uncles: Donald Hankins, Reyes Martinez and Birdell Hankins, aunts: Sodonia Luckie, Frances Jarvis, Bertha Strother, Gertrude Joiner, Ruby Gardner and Pearl Pinner. Left to cherish sweet memories are her children: Julian Morris (Kelli) and Rochelle Morris, grandchildren: Sophia Morris and Corrin Morris, brothers: James A. Morris Jr., Clarence Caldwell, Kevin Morris, Timothy Morris, sisters: Edith Caldwell and Judith Caldwell, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
