Linda Owens Leder, 77, of Whiteville, NC passed peacefully at home on December 4, 2020 surrounded by her husband and daughters after a courageous battle with Corticobasal Degeneration. She was born October 25, 1943 in Columbus County to the late Major Owens and Nora Duncan Owens.
Linda retired from the Department of Corrections and remained close to many work friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren, and traveling with her husband Robert. The beach and Aruba were her favorite destinations. She never met a stranger and was the perpetual jokester. She just loved living life with others.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by an infant sister, Jean Marie, her daughter, Cindy Crane and stepson, Samuel Leder.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years Robert Leder; brother Mark Owens; sisters Ruth Lane, Doris Heustess, Betty Rose Purser, Joyce Crawford, Lillian Babson, Mildred Walter, Anne Rotruck; daughters Carla Ketola and husband Danny (Iron Station, NC), Pam Lanier and husband Mike (Bunnlevel, NC), stepdaughter Rachel Couchenour and husband Brad (Charlotte, NC), stepson Benjamin Leder (Sanford, Fl) and daughter in law Shannon Leder (Concord, NC); grandchildren Stephanie Bowles, Ashley Murphy, Hope and Austin Ketola, Noel and Michael Lanier, Matthew and Bennett Leder and George Couchenour; great grandchildren Sutton and Silas Bowles, Tatum and Tucker Murphy and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, December 7, 2020 at Beth Israel Synagogue Cemetery located within Whiteville Memorial Cemetery located at 1013 James B. White Highway North, Whiteville, NC.
