My sincere condolences to all of Larry’s family and friends.  
First introduced to Larry in 1974 at the Hercules, Wilmington Works.  I worked on C-Line at the time and being a junior C Operator, I was chosen to report to “Bulldog” on D-Line (Larry was the Day Relief A/B Operator for D-Line at the time)!
I was still very green as a C Operator and hardly knew which end of the process was up or down! I was quickly told where in D-Line Purification I could find Bulldog.  I introduced myself and he reciprocated by giving his name as Larry Swain.  From that day until around 2003, give or take, we were always good friends.  That was the last time I saw or spoke with Larry. 
He was a unique person, for certain.  He knew the process inside and out and he taught and explained different aspects of the operation seriously...intertwined with  times of joking and laughter while making the work-day pass, well... interestingly. 
Had the pleasure of working with Larry on a mutual friend’s home while he and another fellow Hercules’ employee put the final touches of the project by installing the brick veneer and adding the fireplace. As was stated earlier by another acquaintance, Larry could build or repair probably almost anything. Like at our Hercules jobs, he took it seriously along with a “comic relief” aspect only Larry could provide!
Will never forget my friend and the kindness he showed me on and off the plant site. When I was recuperating from  heart surgery, Larry stopped by on more than one occasion to see if we needed anything and basically just to see how I was progressing.  Also, when I had to leave the plant on Long Term Disability in early 1999, Larry would give me a call from time to time, as did and still do, a few other close friends. 
Larry Swain was a special person for certain, but aren’t we all?  Larry was one of my closest and respected friends.  I count it a Blessing to have known Larry.  Saddened to hear of your passing on, my friend and brother. 

So sorry for your loss. Larry was a great guy and I am glad I had the pleasure of getting to know him.
