Judith Finch Ruffin was born on April 2, 1937 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She attended schools in Sommerville and North Branch, New Jersey and graduated from Sommerville High School. She began her food service career at the Nassau Inn in Princeton, New Jersey for ten years. She retired as an Executive Manager of Dining Services at Princeton University where she was employed for 25 years.
Judith was a loyal and long-standing member of Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church, a multi-racial, multi-ethnic church in Princeton, New Jersey. She was an ordained Elder, served on the Deacon’s Board, Usher’s Board, and on the Board of Directors for the former Witherspoon Federal Credit Union.
Judith and her husband Edward retired to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1992. She was an active member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association Auxiliary on the International, Division and Chapter level where she served as Vice President and Secretary.
Judith was a volunteer for 26+ years for many organizations mainly those connected with the New Hanover Network volunteering at both Cape Fear Hospital and New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC), Hospital Hospitality House and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and many years on the MHRMC Auxiliary Board accumulating over 11,000 hours.
She served four years on the Board of Echo Greens Homeowners Association and the Board of the Echo Farms Garden Club.
Judith was predeceased by her parents Willmot and Hazel Finch, her brother Willmot Finch, her daughter Pamela Larson, son Scott Larson and her beloved husband of 35 years, Edward Ruffin, with whom she shared five children and six granddaughters.
She is survived by her daughter Victoria Larson, son Glenn Larson and wife Valladene; son Kevin Turner and wife Tonya; daughters-in-law Beverly Larson and Vicky Glosson, as well as granddaughters: Kaila Larson, Marissa Larson Miata and husband Dallas, Carla Glosson-Quamina and husband Valon, Sheri Turner, Corrin Turner and Imani Turner.
