Born in Cumberland County on April 11, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Richard McDaniel, Sr. and Clara Cole McDaniel.
Joanne worked as a network engineer with the Cumberland County school systems and with the state of North Carolina.
She served as a pianist and organist for 41 years in churches in Fayetteville and Wilmington. She began playing when she was 13 years old.
Those left to cherish Joanne’s memory are her husband, Joseph Russell Patterson; mother-in-law, Thelma Smith; stepdaughters, Caron Patt
erson and Robin Glessing; and stepson, Joseph R. Patterson, Jr.; six grandchildren, Katie Allen, Julia Glessing, Tony Glessing, Ashley Patterson, Joey Patterson, and Emma Patterson; one great-grandchild, Mason Glessing; one brother, Ricky McDaniel, Jr. (Jo Ann); two sisters, Cathy McDaniel Bunce (Paul), and Diane Strickland Gibson (Jack); three nephews, Alexander Bunce, Andy Hall, and Scottie Gendron; two nieces, Jennifer Strickland, and Katie Gendron; and her special friend and companion, her dog, Lady.
The family will receive friends at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, Oleander Chapel on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 6-8 PM.
The funeral service honoring Joanne’s life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 19, 2010 in the Chapel of Coble Ward-Smith with the Rev. Preston Burris officiating. Burial will follow at 3 PM at Lafayette Memorial Park 2301 Ramsey St. Fayetteville, NC.
