Jean Doster Auten

Jean moved with her husband, Jack Auten, from her birthplace in Charlotte NC in 1961. She was a proud graduate of Charlotte Tech High School, where she was head Cheerleader and Miss Tech High School as well as the Secretary of her senior class. She loved reading and had a passion for old movies and traveling to see her children. Jean was employed by Coble Ward Smith for many years and Johnson Control and Sears.

She was a dedicated and faithful member of Pine Valley Baptist Church. For many years she taught the Deborah Sunday School class and later was a member of the Dorcas class there.

Jean was a proud Mom of daughter Karen Moriarty, sons Kim (Cindy) of Wilmington, and Ken of Orlando FL, her beloved grandchildren, Kimberly Shepard (Jon), Caroline and Christopher Auten; and great-grandchildren Austin and Chloe Shepard. Her beloved brother, Charles Doster, resides in Charlotte.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service with Pastor Brian Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or Pine Valley Baptist Church.
