He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Faye Stanley Cooper, daughter Cathy Cooper Weaver (Dr. Michael) of Greer, SC, son Timothy Eugene Cooper (Cindy) of Rocky Point. Three grandchildren; Alex Paul Zygmunt (Carol) of Tempe, AZ, Vance Eugene Zygmunt (Jericho) of Yucaipa, CA, Denise Marie Cooper of Rocky Point, and many nieces and nephews.
He joined the USCG in1952 serving four years active and four years inactive duty. Upon discharge, he went to work for Southern Bell and retired from Southern Bell/AT&T after 30 years. After retiring, he began Cooper Telephone Service and successfully served many businesses in and around the Wilmington area for 15 years.
At his death he was a member of Whispering Pines Baptist. He was an ordained deacon at Lake Forest Baptist in 1961 and served as SS and TU teacher, SS Superintendent and sang in the choir, later he served at Grace Baptist as a choir member, in the bus ministry, and taught SS.
His testimony was, “I am His and He is mine.” He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was faithful to God, family, and friends and loved them all. He always put others ahead of himself. He loved working in his yard, fishing, and RVing. He will be greatly missed and always lovingly remembered.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 from 6PM to 8PM at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will take place 1 PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Gourlay officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or Whispering Pines Baptist Church.
