Gracie grew up in Wilmington and had a fulfilling life. She spent her young years at Carters skating center with her cousin Tonya and Sister Lois. She always wished she could relive just one of those days again skating and dancing at the sock hop.
She met her loving husband at the Chic Chic and they began a life and family together. They bowled on most nights and while she wasnt bowling she was playing practical jokes on her nieces and nephews. She sure loved all of them. She worked for 20 years at Belk in Wilmington and loved all of her fellow co workers and enjoyed wrapping gifts even if it meant many Christmas Eves spent there, and perfected the prettiest Hallmark Christmas bows you could ever imagine.
Her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren. She loved each and everyone of them and held them so close to her heart.
Gracie was always a believer however about 14 years ago she stepped into Port City Community Church and her life changed. She not only talked the talk (and oh how she loved to talk), she truly walked the walked. She loved Jesus with her whole heart. She always told me, I am not where I want to be, but I am not where I used to be either. I truly believe she surpassed that. She had a true relationship with Jesus and I am so happy she is dancing with him now. Oh how she loved to do the Twist!
Please join us in celebrating her sweet life today.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 pm on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Port City Community Church with Pastor Mike Ashcraft officiating.
