She was born in Wilmington on May 17, 1951 to the late Mary Pope Garvey and Alrton Garvey.
She was an avid reader and with a caring heart would help those who could not help themselves.
She is survived by husband, Jimmy Simmons of Leland, NC; son, Robert Pridgen, Jr. and his wife Crystal Pridgen of Fl. Grandchildren, Lauren and North and a great-grandson, Christian.
Visitation will be held on Friday April 13, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at First Baptist Church-Woodburn, 109 Lee Drive, Leland, NC 28451.
Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday April 14, 2018 at First Baptist Church –Woodburn. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
