George Leon Carroll, Jr. was born on February 6, 1950, in Conway, South Carolina to George Leon Carroll, Sr. and Patricia Boyd Carroll. He passed safely into the arms of Jesus early Sunday morning, December 15, 2024. He was 74 years old.
George graduated from New Hanover High School class of 1968 and attended NC State for two years. He moved his membership to First Baptist Church Wilmington earlier this year. He began his career at his dad’s store, Jarman’s Pharmacy. After his dad sold the store and retired, George worked at Service News, Eckerd’s, Kroger and finally, Corning where he said he wished he had gone straight there and skipped all the others except for Jarman’s. He retired at age 65.
A Kind and gentle man, George loved birds and had nine bird feeders in the backyard. His special love, however, was Parakeets, of which he had many through the years. He also enjoyed reading, Sudoku, stamp collecting and NASA.
George is survived by his sister, Linda, and his best friends, Billy and Beth Ketner. He also leaves behind several cousins in Horry County, South Carolina.
George was the best brother a sister could ever hope to have. I miss you terribly already Georgie
