Gary was born in Whiteville, Columbus County, North Carolina on October 11, 1958, to the late Lonnie and the late Carolyn (Jones) Jackson. He was the 3rd of 6 children.
Gary was a father of one, his daughter Jennifer. He had 2 grandchildren, Brittany and Matthew. His one great grandson, Riley. He had a little chihuahua Missy, his little girl as he would call her, and he loved her greatly.
Gary was a country boy at heart and he was the real deal. He loved spending time with his family and many friends every chance he got. He would help anyone in their time of need and would not hesitate. He loved rodeos, he loved fishing.
He worked for Danny Malpass Logging for 27 years, as a Cutter Operator. His love for the woods did not stop there. He was an avid hunter, something he looked forward to every year, with several trophies on the wall of his home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 yrs, Joyce (Greenleaf) Jackson. His daughter Jennifer Loftis and her husband Darren. His grandchildren Brittany and Matthew, and his great grandson Riley. His brothers Bennie Jackson and Ken Jackson. His sisters Wanda Richard and Debbie Ward. His mother in law, Virginia Stone. His brother in laws Mark Greenleaf and wife Lisa, Kevin Greenleaf and wife Paula, Amy Pepevnik and husband Jeff, Amanda Pepevnik and husband Karl. Numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, with very close relationships with Bryan Batten, Shawn and Lindsay Rose. He is also survived by many friends from Brunswick and Columbus Counties.
We’ll think of you everyday. We’ll miss your laugh, it’ll always be a thought away.
We know you’re in a better place, but we will forever just want you to stay. Wish we could’ve had one more day, forever we’ll say.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Lonnie and Carolyn Jackson. A baby sister, Lydia Gray. His younger brother Larry Jackson. His stepmother Eunice Jackson. In laws he was very close with, Frank and Elsie Batten, and father in law Robert Stone.
The wake will be at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park from 6-8 pm on Friday March 3, 2023, at 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Reverend Paul officiating. Interment will be March 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
