Accompanied by a lightning strike and peal of thunder Elsie Carroll Williams, age 98, left this world to claim her long awaited home in Heaven on Sunday morning, April 30th, 2023. Elsie was born in a small house set in the center of a 10-acre farm in the small Columbus County town now called Delco, NC. She was the first daughter born to the late Jackson Corbett Carroll and Rosie Champion Carroll. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Elrod, Rodney, Robert, Doris, Harley, Inez and Tom; sons-in-law Steve and David; daughter in-law Becky; great grandson Jackson as well as her devoted husband Major Jefferson Williams. She and Major grew up on adjacent farms and were childhood sweethearts.
Elsie is survived by her Brother in-law Glyn; sons Terry (Janice), Ernie (Martha), Roger (Alecia); daughters, Rosie “Becky”, Judy, Carol (Jimmy); grandsons Lee (Nikki), Scott (Patty), Michael (Amy), Jamie (Becky), Matthew (Katelyn), Joshua, Luke (Juliana), Brock; granddaughters Kecia (Rodney), Bethany (Sean), Hannah (Andrew), Carrie (Christian); great grandsons Ryan, Colton, Tyler, Seth, Corbett, Major, Irie, Owen, Cannon; great granddaughters Lilyana, Anna, Lyvv, Avid, Rosie; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and devoted caregivers Gail and Sandra.
Elsie was a homemaker devoted to her family and church. She was a strong, independent woman with unwavering faith in GOD that was well known throughout the community. She was so much more than a wife, mother and grandmother. She was always there with prayer when times were hard and with joy in times of achievement. She taught her family, as well as all those she encountered through her service to her Lord and Savior, how to live a life of faithfulness. Her life was a light for all and she will be missed.
She was a faithful member of Delco Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church for 75+ years. She would be honored if you chose to donate to her beloved church or a charity of your choosing. She also loved flowers and had an amazing green thumb.
The family will receive friends at Delco PFWB Church on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 10-11am with a service to follow in the Sanctuary. Burial will be in the Delco Cemetery following the service.
