He is preceded in death by his sister, Edith Clotill Barrett; brothers, Jack, Graham and Hubert.
At age 17, Billy joined the National Guard and served 42 years. At age 23, he started his adventures in law enforcement, which lasted another 42 years, 14 of which was at Carolina Beach PD and the rest with New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department. During his adventures, he also established E. W. Eason Electrical Company, which his son has taken over as EWE and Cape Fear Generators. Some say they have seen him in three different uniforms in one day. He was always a busy man. Law Enforcement was his first love and he spent many hours starting out on the Boardwalk of Carolina Beach and then proceeded on to “tour” the county with the Sheriff’s Department. He has seen the county grow, as well as the departments and went thru the ranks with it. He had several years of the Justice Academy and on site training thru CFCC. He enjoyed his service to the community and was well known all over. Billy also loved going to and was an avid fan of football games all over and settled in with the Atlanta Falcons. Usually over the game weekends, he would also catch a basketball game, hockey game and a baseball game. He enjoyed them all. He would get the fullest out of life. That is where he would also start out taking his grandchildren to the games. He has a strong love for all his grands. Each one had a different personality and he gained knowledge from them as in using a computer or cell phone. He couldn’t master texting but would always call them.
He also spent several years as a Mason and then joined the Shriners.
