Doris Byrum Spivey, age 92, went to be with her Lord on December 28, 2018 at Morningside of Wilmington. She has now been reunited with her beloved husband Gene of over 69 years who went to be with his Lord on May 25, 2015.
Doris was born in Greenville, NC on June 13, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Raymond Byrum and the late Leona Doughty Byrum Tripp. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith William Spivey; her brothers: Ernest Raymond Byrum, Jr. and Vernon Bradford Byrum; her sisters: Mildred Byrum Whitmus, Marjorie Byrum Hardee and Lois Byrum Bullock.
She was an active member of Pine Valley United Methodist Church; a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, an avid bridge player and an avid golfer.
She is survived by her sons Douglas Eugene Spivey of Riegelwood and his wife Jane, son Ernest Wayne Spivey of Wilmington and wife Teresa, and son Darrell Glenn Spivey of Cape Coral Florida and wife Donna, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, her loving sister Ernestine “Tina” Byrum Shackelford of Virginia Beach, VA, one brother Daniel Byrum and wife Elizabeth of Greenville, North Carolina, two sister-in-laws Dorothy English and Mildred Grossack both of Wilmington.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412. A Funeral Service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Mausoleum.
