He was born in Washington, DC to Buck And Luegeana Thrower on January 24, 1948.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, daughter Rebecca Jones and wife of almost 50 years, Marietta Thrower.
David started his career in the US Army at the tender age of 18. He served our country in the Vietnam War and upon returning married the love of his life Marietta Thrower. David and Marietta moved to NY where he started a career with the US postal service. He had a passion for math and soon after David joined Wall Street as part of an elite audit team at Ernest & Company and Merill Lynch before joining the NYC Mass Transit Authority as a train conductor. He moved up to become a tower operator while serving as a union leader with Transport Workers Union local 100 before retiring to Wilmington, NC where he and his late wife started and ran a wholesale apparel company.
David was also a musician whose love of music led to him traveling the world from Germany to France playing guitar, singing, writing and producing several music compilations for other well known R & B, funk artists of his time. David owns more than 300 copyrights to date. His love of music led him to lead his life with a passion towards the creative arts that he also gave to his children & grandchildren.
David is survived by his Daughters, Khalilah Olokunola (Her husband Alafeez Olokunola), Iesha Thrower, Davinna Thrower and Dajia Lugo as well as his grandkids Shamiya Bennett, Phazon & Avinna Vasconcellos, Kairos & Adam Olokunola. Stacey McNair, Riley Logan Vascellaro, Danielle & Paul Jones, Kaylee Lugo and great grandkids Nova, Adelynn and Marietta

The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday September 28, 2022 at Coble Funeral Service Chapel, 1155 Shipyard Blvd. Wilmington, NC.The family will receive friends one hour prior.Burial will immediately follow the service in Greenlawn Burial Park with Military Honors.
