Darling Johnson Jr. affectionately, called “Johnny” was born on March 15, 1935, in Ludowici Georgia to the late Samuel A. Nevels Jr. and Bessie Davis Johnson. He was adopted by his stepfather Darling Johnson and given his name.
Darling received his formal education in the Long County public school system and at a young age moved to New York City. While living in New York most of his employment was as a public servant at Queens College, New York City Transit System and after more than twenty-eight years he retired from the New York City Fire department.
His greatest joys were expressing his love of God and to his family. Each year he attended as many Bible Student Conventions as he could and daily, read and studied scripture.
Regularly working out and staying fit helped him enjoy many other things that he loved, such as gardening and landscaping. He always kept his yard in tip top shape. He loved cooking and grilling outside year-round.
This past September he and his wife Vera enjoyed and celebrated forty years of marriage.
Left to cherish Darling’s precious memory are his devoted wife, Vera Johnson of the home, his three children.
