She migrated to the United States in 1976 and soon after was successful in achieving a diploma from the Certified Nursing Assistant School. This program enabled her to work in several Home Healthcare Facilities in Nyack, New York caring for patients as well as working as a private healthcare worker. Her ability to show compassion afforded her special requests from patients who consistently requested her service. She had a quiet strength and a calming nature.
In 2004, Daphne decided to retire and move to Wilmington, North Carolina to live with her daughter, Meloney. Several years later, because of different needs, the decision was made to move her to a facility where she would be more engaged with peers of her age. She had an uncanny ability to reach people deeply and positively.
Daphne loved cooking and took delight in preparing special meals for her children. She rarely complained and always looked to a better future. Her desire to always sacrifice her needs for the good of the family was commendable. Always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind, she was extremely proud of her children.
She will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic mother who always had a smile even when times were tough.
Surviving to celebrate her legacy and memory are five children: Ralph Palmer, Ian Palmer (Terri), Michael Nembhard, Lisa Palmer, and Meloney Palmer. Four grandchildren: Gregory Palmer, Dr. Thalia Palmer, Christian Palmer, Amadi Palmer Bentley and Georgina Palmer. Three brothers: Keith Earle, Felmin Earle, and Giovanni Earle.
