Daphne Rose Smith George

In the peaceful early morning hours of Saturday, March 9, 2024, Daphne Rose Smith George entered the gates of Heaven joining her father CH Smith Jr., her mother, Billie Rose Smith, and her niece Lisa McMillian.

Daphne, 65, was born on April 22, 1958 in Wilmington, NC. She was a 1976 graduate of Hoggard High School. From a young age, Daphne had a glorious singing voice, of which she blessed many churches, with a duet of “Rise Again” with her sister, Gwen. Daphne loved the beach, her beautiful red Mustang, her fur babies Jake and Bella, but most of all, she loved her family and friends.

To carry on her memory and legacy, Daphne leaves behind her husband Mark, daughter Tiffany Jernigan and husband Dameon; son Phillip Stewart and wife Carrie; sister Gwen Nixon and husband Lynwood; seven granddaughters: Kaylee, Allison, Carah Jernigan, Mia, Stella, Sophia and Liliana Block; one great-grandson: Kole William Yates; and nephew, Charles Nixon and wife Ann.

Daphne’s immediate family will be receiving friends and family from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Her funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 15, 2024, both of which will be held at Coble Funeral Service, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington. Her beloved brother-in-law, Lynwood Nixon, will be officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
