Words from her Sister:
Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for being here with us to celebrate Cynthia's life. I have asked the Reverend to raed a few thoughts to you. I was told when my sister was born that she was "My Baby". I took this very seriously and still feel this way today. She was indeed an inestimable gift to me, a best friend, a patient and wise counselor, and a joyous companion. We were a team, whether it was setting up our camper together, sailing mourning grave losses, moving or just enjoying time together. Cynthia and June loved playing cards. Both were quite skilled and I took great delight in hearing their competitive banter and uproarious laughter late into the night. We were a Family.
Cynthia had the gift of accepting people for who they are. She simply appreciated and loved us. Forgiving by nature, she loved without judgements and expectations. On a personal level Cynthia was an incredible support to me. She traveled to Vienna and NYC to attend my performances. Cynthia was my Maid of Honor at our wedding, a beautiful presence in all ways.
In her early teen years, Cynthia helped care for our dying mother and later cared for our father as his health deteriorated. She did all this with love and devotion, and with maturity beyond her years.
Cynthia's beloved poodle, Sebastian, was her great companion. His tragic loss took a great toll on her.
in spite of these difficult responsibilities and losses and yes, mounting health challenges in more recent years. Cynthia would always say, when asked how she was,"I'm fine".
This positive attitude reflected her rich internal life, a life of quite faith and love of friends and family.
Professionally , she accomplished wonderful things in her years as a reference librarian in Westlake, establishing very successful programs and obtaining, through a Kulas grant, a grand piano for the library. She loved her profession and her colleagues who were fabulous friends. Cynthia really did live life as she chose, accepting what came her way with grace, rejoicing in the joys of everyday life. Her generous, open spirit was a gift to us all. - Holly Hall
