He grew up and remained in Bradford, PA, until 1968 when he moved to Wilmington, NC. During his time in Bradford, he developed a strong work ethic at a young age delivering newspapers. He served his country in the United States Army during the end of the World War II era, and was employed with Corning Incorporated for 32 years.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working puzzles, going for rides with his adoring dog, Gracie, and sharing stories from his life. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer. He was a devoted member of Living Water Ministries in Wilmington, NC. He loved the Lord with all his heart and loved sharing the Word with others.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years, Rose Mary Vinelli Meabon; second wife of 25 years, Sally Ann Meabon; one sister, Marie Stroyer; brother, Geoffrey Meabon; brother, Jay Marion Meabon in infancy, and daughter-in-law, Sylvia R. Frazier.
He is survived by his children Joseph Meabon (Jill), Tina Lewis (Gary), and Teresa Wagoner (Kenneth); his step-children Henry R. Nelson II (Leili), Chris Nelson (Kim), and Jennifer Buffkin (Bill); 6 grandchildren: Nicholas Meabon, Daniel Meabon, Sarah Russ (Perry), Michael Lewis (Sydney), Nicole Wagoner, and Rebecca Wagoner; 4 step-grandchildren: Ryan Sawyer (Brieann), Lindsey Dicuccio (Rob), Victoria Bushman (Cole), and Alexis Buffkin; 2 great-grandchildren: Benjamin Russ and Hannah Russ; sister, Geraldine Bryan; and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Nicholas Meabon, Michael Lewis, Benjamin Russ, Dwight Peterson, Bradford Little, and Shawn Davis.
