Cecil Ray Hines

Cecil was born in Wilmington, NC on June 8, 1938, to Edgar and Annie Mae Hines. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Holloway Hines, and two children: Joseph (Joey) Hines and Terry Lynn Hurley.

After graduating from New Hanover High School, he began working at Friendly Department Store until he enlisted in the US Army where he had an honorable and distinguished stint in the Military Intelligence Service Branch stationed in Hawaii. After leaving the Army, he went into retail as part owner of several footwear establishments. Later in life, he dabbled in screen printing.

A funeral service for Cecil will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Coble Funeral Home Chapel at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park,1155 Shipyard Blvd, with Pastor Brad Dunker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Building Fund of Cape Fear Baptist Church at P.O. Box 705, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 in Cecil's memory.
