Bobby was born on March 19, 1945 to Bertha Elizabeth Smith and Charles Lee Horner in Charlestown, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
In 1963 he met Sandra Ward. Bobby and Sandra got married and had their son, Scott Horner. Years later he met Susan Britt in 1973 and they had their daughter, Kendra Horner.
After his school years he went on to start his company B.L. Horner Construction, kickstarting a career in home building. He was an active member of the Home Builders Association for many years and for some time was their president. Bobby also received the Home Builder of the Year award on more than one occasion.
Bobby had great passion for fishing. He was a member of Port City Bass Masters and fished many tournaments, freshwater and saltwater. He was happy anytime he was on the water with a fishing pole in his hand and if he had a friend or family member to join him he was even happier. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their house on Black River cooking, boating and sharing stories and laughter. He also enjoyed other activities such gardening, taking the time enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and volunteering his time through Rotary Club which he was an active member for many years.
He is survived by his son, Scott Horner, daughter, Kendra Horner and 4 granddaughters Payton Horner Pursley, Reagan Carter Stephenson, Piper Elyse Stephenson and Sara Maddax Stephenson.
A special thank you to the people at Gentiva Hospice for their loving care and support during his final days. Also a special thank you to Nicole Pait for her support, love and kindness. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Coble Funeral and Cremation Service for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
A visitation for Bobby will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412.
A Funeral Service will occur at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023 with Pastors Ken Smith and Leo Smith, Jr. officiating at Dulah Missionary Baptist Church, 12476 Swamp Fox Hwy E, Tabor City, North Carolina 28463. Interment will follow the Funeral Service
