Like so many thousands of Mustangs, I had the pleasure of being taught mathematics by her twice. I had to retake Alegebra3 Trig in summer school at Garinger High and she was there. The last day, I ran out of gas on the way and had to hitchhike and was about 45 minutes late. Mrs Thomas could see I was panicked and told me to take a chair out in the hall and recuperate and then come back in. Of course, she stayed late with me to give me equal time to finish the final. Always so gracious! Along with Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Thomas was an inspiration for me becoming a teacher. 

My sincere condolences to her family. Keep telling stories about her to keep her legacy alive!!

Betty was a wonderful lady that always treated me with compassion and love.  I will always remember her for being such a strong willed lady that I greatly admired.

What a true blessing it was to know Mrs. Thomas.

I taught at Myers Park with Betty in the mid sixties. She was a delightful, caring,  and fun person in addition to being an excellent teacher. My sympathies go to her family. 

Mrs. Thomas was a favorite teacher of mine at Myers Park High School.  She asked me to do math tutoring and got me started on a lifelong path of teaching.  I remember her as no-nonsense, but kind.  She made a difference.

I was lucky to have Mrs. Thomas as a teacher at Myers Park.  She was one of the best teachers I ever had!  My sympathies go to her family.

Mrs. Thomas, as I called her, was such a sweet woman. Her daughter, Sharon, was my best friend at AG and MPHS. I spent 6 years hanging out at their house on Shoreham Drive.  So many memories. I never had Mrs. Thomas as a Math Teacher, but my brother, Tommy Franklin, did.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her son, David, and his family, and Sharon’s husband, Randy Hobbs, and their children, Jeremy and Maggie. May the peace of God be with all of you. 

Mrs. Thomas was my math teacher at Myers Park.  Later when I became a teacher, I worked with Betty Thomas at East Mecklenburg.  She was an excellent teacher.  She was a supportive colleague.  It is an honor to have known this lovely lady with such a beautiful smile.
