Elaine Carroll Parmele, age 82, of Wilmington, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Elaine was born December 14, 1938 in Mullins, South Carolina to Patricia Boyd Carroll and George Leon Carroll.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Jacobs Parmele.
Elaine is survived by her sister, Linda and brother, George. She is also survived by her best friend of 60 years, Gloria Hood and her beloved God Daughter, Jennifer Hood Nolan as well as many cousins scattered throughout Horry County, SC.
She began her education at Conway Grammar School, Conway South Carolina. Due to her academic excellence, she skipped the 7th grade. During her senior year, she was the head typist for “The Wildcat” school newspaper at New Hanover High School where she graduated in 1956. Elaine went on to graduate from UNCW.
During her career, she served as a transcriptionist at James Walker Memorial Hospital, Cape Fear Memorial Hospital, New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and for Dr. Thaddeus Coin in his private practice. She was also a previous Ruling Elder and President of the Ladies of Pearsall Presbyterian Church and a member of First Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC.
We are sure she stopped by the Rainbow Bridge and collected all her kitty cats, especially Inky, on her flight to heaven.
As per her request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Burial will be private.
