Heaven gained an angel on Friday January 31, 2014. Thomas Ray Martin (AKA Slammer) was a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, and best all around friend to many. He was a fun-loving person with a special gift of making you feel good in his presence.
He was a classic car enthusiast, and despite serious respiratory challenges, he loved the outdoors and would often post pictures of his walks at the San Pedro Marina on Facebook. Born into a camping and dirt bike riding family, Thomas had a passion for the playing in the desert with family and friends— a passion he passed down to his son, Dustin. If not in the desert together, they could often be found talking about, buying parts for, or just admiring their dirt bikes.
Thomas was born December 12, 1966. He was a down-to-earth family man (dubbed as his mom’s “calm one”) with a warm smile and contagious laugh.
He is survived by his wife Rosa and son Dustin; his mother Gisela Irgang-Martin and Father Ray; his brother Eric and wife Patty; his younger brother Scott and his wife Holly; his nephews Joshua Martin, Tino Figueroa; and his nieces Kim and Cindy Besio, Savannah Martin, Apolline Figueroa, and Brooke Martin. We will miss him dearly.
Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria del Angel McNerney's Mortuary, FD #858, Wilmington, CA.
