Mark Heyward Jordan, 74 years old, passed away in his home of Carson, California on the morning of September 18, 2021. Mark was a loving brother to Vickie, proud father to Nichole, Quentan, and Devin, and devoted grandfather to Kaden, Mikayla, and Maya.
Mark was born on May 7, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Juanita Jordan. Him and his family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina and eventually ended up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mark graduated from Wilkinsburgh High School and worked at a steel mill as a young man. Mark was eventually drafted into the Vietnam War, where he served for 2 years. During his time enlisted, Mark earned a designation as a sharp-shooter and was skilled working as a tank operator. Mark was honorably discharged from the army in 1970.
In 1979, Mark was recruited by Garrett Airesearch, so he packed up his blue Oldsmobile Cutlass and made the journey to sunny Torrance, California with his family. While in California in 1985, Mark worked at Northrop Grumman, eventually working for Boeing on delta rocket projects as a buyer. Mark had a passion for his job and worked at Boeing until his retirement in 2013.
Some of Mark’s favorite pastimes included vacationing with his family, barbequing, cooking, attending air shows, studying history, collecting varieties of coins, and actively keeping count of the Steeler’s victories, which was his favorite team.
Mark is greatly loved and will be missed by all his family and peers. He was a committed father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to everyone around him. Mark’s Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday October 16, 2021 at Funeria Del Angel from 12:00PM-4:00PM. Address is 1640 N Avalon Blvd, Wilmington, CA 90744.
