Evelyn Romero, 70, returned to her heavenly home on September 11, 2018 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Evelyn was born to parents Rafael and Nellie Romero, on August 26, 1948 in Santa Paula, CA. She grew up in a large, loving family with two sisters and two brothers. She was raised and lived almost all of her adult life in Wilmington, CA. Immediately following graduation from Banning High School she entered the workforce as a Clerk Typist. She eventually secured an Administrative Secretary position with Garrett Air Research (now Honeywell) where she was employed for 32 years, before having to medically retire in 2009 due to her first bout of cancer.
Evelyn’s interests included family, friends, reading, golfing, traveling and she had a love for music and dancing. Most people were fond of her beautiful smile that would light up a room. She was kind, giving and a devoted Mother and Nana.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Andrea (Mike) Garcia and Nicole (Heath) Erskine whom she shared with her former spouse, Charles Palacios; her grandchildren Vincent Palacios, Mia Palacios, Lance Erskine, Charlie Erskine, Chris Garcia and Alyssa Garcia; her brother Edward Romero; her sisters MaryLou Romero and Yolanda Jimenez. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Romero.
