Ruth Russell,86, beloved wife of the late Russ, devoted mother of Jane (Craig) Love of Arlington Heights and Susan Lueth of Santa Rosa, CA; cherished grandmother of Mindy (John) Ott of Louisvile,KY; dear great grandmother of Lucille Catherine and Vincent Russell Ott.
Born and raised in West Virginia, Ruth attended Marshall College (now Marshall University) in Huntington, West Virginia. She moved to Chicago in 1946 to enter Mandel Brothers Merchandise Training Program, where she met Russ in 1947. They were married in 1948 on her birthday.
She and Russ moved to Northwest Evanston after the birth of their two daughters. They were residents of Evanston for 40 years. During which time she was active in the North End Mother's and Mary Bartleme Clubs, was a girl Scout Leader, a volunteer at Evanston Township High School and a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church of Evanston, IL. After her daughters weddings, she became a wedding planner for Northminster. Ruth and Russ found their passion for world travel while daughter Jane lived in Italy and they visited many other countries together.
After a sudden hearing loss, Ruth became an Active Member and Fundraiser for the North Shore Senior Center in their Hearing Loss Program and also with the Hearing Loss Association of America. She was a tireless care giver to husband, Russ, during his eight-year battle with Alzheimer's. Most recently, Ruth was a resident of The Moorings of Arlington Heights after residing in Wilmette for 13 years. Memorial Visitation on Tuesday from 2:30pm until 7:00pm with a 4:30pm memorial service at Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home 1100 Greenleaf Avenue Wilmette.
