You will be missed Roy...listened to you every day for many years and you added so much music info to my repertoire by your discussions of new plays and entertainment in Chicago.  No one has done that since and I am so grateful for all you did.  God Bless you...much love to you Roy.

When our children were growing up in the 70's and 80's and even through 1997 when Roy retired from WGN, I listened to his broadcasts while doing  housekeeping tasks.  I really enjoyed listening; he was gentle, kind, and entertaining..such a respectful, family-loving person. He will certainly be missed.  He and his dear family will be remembered in my prayers.

I listened to Roy's WGN radio program frequently before moving to Arizona. He was warm and personable.  He will be truly missed by all those whose live's he touched.

Roy was a voice in my ear when I was growing up and through Kolin I got the chance to meet him 50 years later. He was as fine a gentleman in person as he was in my mind all those years ago. He and his wife raised a fine family and was an example for all to follow in word and deed.

In the world of broadcasting, many have tried to reach the top, however none have ever done so with more class,kindness and respect! Our deepest sympathy to the family.

I have listened to WGN since I was a child & I am in my 70's.  Roy was an assist to Chicago & WGN & all who listened to him.  I still remember the day he started.  He seemed to be a very pleasant, nice person & talking about his much loved family made him not just a radio personality, but a "real" person.  I loved how he opened the Sat. morning show for years with a song from John Denver.  We will miss him, but I am glad he is now with his wife in heaven & I know my late husband has said hi to him.  May all of you Leonard family follow in your father's "big" shoes.  Thanks for sharing such a great person.  God Bless you in your time of loss. May God hold each & everyone one of you in the palm of His hand.

Sincere condolences to the entire Leonard family.  Roy was a genuine friend and comrade.  I so enjoyed the association with him through Red Cloud and the Annual Chef Dinners in the Chicago area.  He will be truly missed!!

To The Leonard Family:

I had the honor and privilege of meeting your father, Roy, several times.  He couldn't have been kinder and nicer.  So often, I'd listen to his weekend WGN Radio show and would be amazed with his knowledge and enthusiasm for movies, theater, travel, etc.

When my father passed away 19 years ago, Roy called to pay his condolences.  Roy had become acquainted with my father thru the Red Cloud Athletic Fund.

We will all miss Roy's passion for his work and listeners.  

To all of you who will miss him the most, I extend my deepest condolences.

I listened and enjoyed Roy on WGN for many years.  A special memory for me was listening to Roy on Saturday's with my Dad as we were doing a major house project together!  May God Bless your family, Roy!

How sad to learn this.  I had the pleasure of working with Roy at the old WHDH-TV, Channel 5, (he was radio) in the late 1950s/early 1960s).  A gentle soul, he had the best voice in the broadcast industry.  We were so sad when he left Boston but our loss was Chicago's gain.  Rest easy, Roy.  Condolences to the family.

To the Leonard family,my ex classmates...your dad was, and always will be, one of the nicest people i ever met.  He was so giving of his time, whenever i needed insight, when inquiring about getting into the industry.  God bless him.  My thoughts are with you and (as the son of an artist) thank you for sharing him with  us.

I am very sorry to learn of Roy's untimely passing. I worked with him at the former WNAC Radio, Television, and the Yankee 
Network from 1959-1961 while attending Emerson College in Boston. Roy was a very caring and kind gentleman, a true professional, and was a mentor to those entering the Broadcasting industry. Rest in Peace, Roy. May your Family find strength during this most difficult time.
