Lewis was born November 30, 1929, and raised in Hyde Park, Chicago. After serving in the army during the Korean War, he married Hortense and moved to Highland Park. They raised their three children and lived there for 65 years. He worked in sales of flavors and colors for H. Kohnstamm & Co. for many years. Lewis always put his family first, was extremely well-dressed, and loved to travel. In his retirement, he traveled to all 7 continents but his favorite place always remained Escanaba, MI, where many of his relatives lived.
Loving husband of 70 years to Hortense née Pulver; cherished father to James (Laura), Richard (Karen), and Paul; grandfather to Joseph, Mitchell (fiancée Annabelle Roberts), Emily, Sophia, Jessica, Henry, Zachary, and Spencer.
He is preceded in death by his son John Lewis and sister Marilyn (Joe) Roth.
