I had been a patient of Dr. Miller for over 40 years.  I would always be embarrassed when I would make an appointment and had to give my date of birth, I had to be one of his oldest patients.  I was saddened in 2022 when I tried to make my yearly appt and that he was indefinitely out and that they weren’t sure when he would be returning.  I had a feeling something was up.  I just found out today that he had passed.  He always talked with me for at least 30 minutes about our families, always asking how my children / grand children were doing-before he even evaluated my physical numbers. He was very proud of his kids and Grand kids.

I first met Dr. Miller 44 years ago when we lost a daughter at birth due to undeveloped lungs , kidneys.  Years forward he suggested that our two young children Kim and Rick along with us be tested.  Turns out Thanks to him I was determined to only have one kidney.  He aggressively treated me for high blood pressure and high cholesterol at an early age.  I loved when he’d walk into the exam room with this huge  hand written file on me.  For years after I retired I would drive 2 and a half hours from Michigan just to stay under his care.  

I finally had to pick another young physician in Michigan.  His  background is  military just like Dr. Miller.

I’m so sorry I could not have expressed  my feelings sooner.

Thinking of Dr Miller on his birthday today.  He was an incredibly caring doctor, like no other.

I am so saddened to hear about Dr. Miller. He saved my life back in 1984 when I was 12. I received my kidney transplant in 1985. He remained my nephrologist for almost 30 years. I gave him his 1st (maybe only) voodoo doll of himself. He came to my wedding. He was a fabulous doctor and a good man. He will forever be in my heart.

I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. He was my daughters doctor 7 years ago (2016) when she was 14yo are old. He was so down to earth and you felt the love. I’m so sorry to hear this my condolences to his entire family and host of friends, co worker,  and patients.

Dr Miller was my daughters doctor from her birth. I don't know how to thank him for the way he took care of my daughter. Staying far away from home and parents , talking to Dr Miller always gave me and my husband a lot of comfort just like a family . We really miss u ..

Dr. Miller Has been my daughter Nephrologist since she was born. He was such a wonderful doctor. He took his time and never rushed our visits.  Being a single parent with a daughter with medical issues he always seen the fear in my eyes when it was time to go over her yearly testing and he all reassured me everything was ok and not to worry.  This is such a shock to me.  And I still haven't found any doctor thats close to him. He will be truly missed.  

I am deeply saddened hearing about Dr. Ken Miller. Being a patient of his for nearly forty nears, and trying to reach him for the past eight months, and no one in his practice being able to tell me whatnot whereabouts Dr. Miller is disheartening.
I am so very sorry to write this on this page, but I don't know how else to convey my sadness I am going thru.
Dr. Miller, you will truly be missed. May you rest in peace.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Miller's passing.  Words can not explain how many young doctors in training Dr. Miller fostered along the way.  We all wanted to do our best around him because we didn't want to let him down.  His teaching style and work ethic are legendary at Hope Children's and his stories will continue to echo through the halls.  I paged him at 2 am to talk about one of his patient's that was being admitted.  I had every text book opened to the chapter on nephrotic syndrome, and he was asking me questions and I was scrambling for answers.  When I hung up the phone he was standing right behind me with the same smile he has in the photo on this website.  He truly loved what he did and his passion for compassionate patient care was contagious.  He will be sorely missed by many. 

Dr Ken Miller was a truly beautiful thoughtful and caring soul. He taught and molded thousands of physicians and medical staff throughout his illustrious career. I wish I could explain via conjecture how much this man meant to all of us who had the pleasure to train under him. He was devoted and dedicated to teaching in a way that is not currently en vogue. He always showed up and he always used wit banter criticism sarcasm humor or sometimes just plain pity and exhaustion to get his point across. You knew by the end of the interaction that the job you’re doing is possibly adequate or it may be you needed a lot a lot of studying to do.  This great man left an impression on me that I’ll never forget. Truly a legend. Even as I saw this man who I revered so much standing on the sidelines at soccer games cheering on his very talented grandkids I could not respect him any more. I hope his grandkids know he lived in a class by himself. Truly saddened at his passing but overjoyed that my path overlapped with his for even the briefest of moments.

When I was doing my residency at LGH during the 90’s I remember many times seeing Dr.  Miller rounding on his patients when I was on call.  I would look forward every time to this encounter because  I would always learn so much.  I truly admired his dedication, patience and compassion towards his patients.  He was an amazing doctor and an even better person.  I will miss him.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.  I hope you find comfort knowing how many lives he touched. 

Dr. Miller did a lot for me growing up.  As an experienced Kidney Doctor, he always took the time to examine me.  He also treated the family like we're part of his family.

I was a student of Dr Miller at University of Illinois Med School in Chicago.  I also consulted with him when I was a pediatrician in Bartlett/Schaumburg, when he was a specialist at St Alexis’s.  He was a very kind and compassionate doctor.  I always admired him, and he surely will be missed

The Millers were a second family to me when I was in elementary/middle/high school. Shannon was my best friend, and we were inseparable. When my house burned down, the Millers welcomed me into their house for months, and I felt like I was a Miller Kid. Doc and Trissy Miller were amazing parents with high standards - the fact that their family is so close-knit is a testament to that. I will miss him dearly and my heart aches from this news. 

Dr. Miller was one of a kind. Worked with him at Lutheran General for many years. He was a true advocate for his patients and their families! His family was near and dear to him…. Prayers for comfort for Trissy and family at this difficult time… and the days to come. God bless!

Dr. Miller was my daughter's urologist for years, and we so appreciated all that he did to help her with her chronic issues. I am so very sorry for your loss of a great doctor and person. 

Kenny was one-of-a-kind. His humor, compassion, graciousness,  work-ethic, intelligence and uniqueness are world-renowned .  He was our camp's doctor for many years. His first year at Camp Menominee was in 1978, the summer we had a pneumonia epidemic. THE CDC had flown in from Atlanta, but the doctor who had been in attendance when the illness broke-out, abandoned the camp in our hour of deepest need. Kenny came up immediately and earlier than he was scheduled, potentially jeopardizing his own growing practice. He saved the day. He didn't leave until he had gotten us through and everyone was healthy again. He was a great friend. When I was 19 at camp in 1979, in a moment of my own personal angst and confusion, he let me know he was there for me. And he was. Without him there for camp and me at that time, Menominee might have just become a distant memory. Instead, camp thrives and his legacy lives on there forever through the Doc's Run we started in 1985, through his wonderful family and the thousands upon thousands who are alive today because Kenny was their family's doctor. His is a giant among men. Not in physical stature but in strength of character. Love you, Doc. Beautiful job.        

Dr Miller was one of a kind. My dad, Charlie saw him for years and absolutely loved "Kenny".  My sister worked for him and later so did I. I, of course was his favorite sister.  Loved his Spongebob phone case!

I will forever be connected to Dr. Miller. First as the Nephrologist who treated me when I was diagnosed at Age 10, and then of course Camp Menominee, where I spent 10 years and have been going up every summer for the past 25. He was a kind, caring, and hardworking man. My thoughts and prayers go to his family and may his memory be a blessing. I will never forget him! 

Dr Miller was an excellent teacher throughout medical school and residency. His patient care was state of the art. He was a trusted colleague and good friend. His care and concern went well past closing time. He could always be counted on. He was a superior physician and person. I will miss you Ken.

My deepest sympathies to Doc’s family. I had the pleasure of working alongside Doc at Camp Menominee in the summer of 2019. For the short period that we worked together,  I had the pleasure to learn from him and was treated like a friend.
