Judith "Judy" Friedman, 81. Devoted daughter of the late Elmer and Germaine Friedman; beloved sister of the late Laurence (Maxine) Friedman; caring aunt of Renee (Ken) Williams, Ellyn (Alan) Reback, and Richard (Teresa) Friedman; dear great-aunt of many; loving companion of Paul Douglas. Judy graduated as valedictorian from Sullivan High School in 1957 and went on to the University of Wisconsin. An early career woman, she spent her entire career at IBM, where she met her lifelong companion Paul Douglas, who was her support and mainstay throughout her life. He was there for her always; at her bedside until the end. Judy was very generous and supportive of both family members and friends. She was active in many charities; a longtime board member of Thresholds and ardent supporter of the arts, notably the CSO, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Victory Gardens, and many of Chicago's small theater companies. Graveside service Monday, Feb. 28, 1 PM at Zion Gardens Cemetery, 6758 W. Addison St, Chicago.
