James G. Meyer, age 61, of Evanston, IL, passed away on Sept. 1, 2010. He was born July 20, 1949, in St. Peter, MN. He received his education at Washburn High School, Minneapolis, MN, Dartmouth College (Magna cum Laude), the University of Chicago (MA in English), and Northern Illinois University (MA in Library Science). Jim held several librarian positions at Northwestern University, the University of Texas, and at NOTIS, a library software company. After he left Northwestern, he volunteered to teach English as a Second Language to Hispanic, Japanese and Chinese immigrants. Son of the late Eugene and Gladys Meyer, nee Anderson; brother of the late Phillip (Jeannie) Meyer; uncle of Reid (Cynthia) and Paul Meyer; great uncle of one; cousin of Jack (Joanne) and Robert (Janice) Meyer and Karl, Joel (Kris) and the late Eric (Debbie) Anderson. Jim was a very brave, resilient and intelligent person who always looked on the bright side, and loved to tell jokes. He will be fondly remembered by his numerous friends and family. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 30, 2010, 3-5 PM at the Fellowship Room of the Alice Millar Chapel, 1870 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL. A graveside service will take place in Saint Peter, MN on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at 2pm.
