Garrett "Gary" Unger Cohn, age 86, beloved husband and best friend of the late Myrna L. Cohn for 54 years, passed away on April 14, 2024. Adored father of Michelle (Steven) Fishman, Adam (Jill Woehrmann) Cohn, Sharon (the late Stuart Johnson) Cohn, and Laura (Bill Dingfelder) Cohn; loving grandpa to Jordyn (Steven) Kerstein, Alexa Fishman, Daniel Cohn, Levon Cohn and Josie Cohn; Son of the late Maurice and Bess Cohn of Waterloo, Iowa. Beloved brother to Norman (Suzanne) Cohn, the late Cyma Rifka (Jerome) Heffter and the late Richard Cohn. Special cousin and uncle to many.
Born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa, Garrett (Gary) graduated from Waterloo West High School and then attended the University of Iowa before traveling to his beloved Aix En Provence, France to study abroad at the Institute for American Universities Aix-en-Provence.
In later years Garrett resided in the Chicago area, Philadelphia, PA and Door County, WI where he was an active member of the Unitarian Fellowship of Door County, and the Chairman of the Democratic Party of Door County.
Garrett, along with Myrna, were founding members of the Society for Humanistic Judaism where they raised their four children as independent, original thinkers all of whom carry their passion for connecting with others, learning, and engaging in the world around them.
Garrett was a passionate entrepreneur who spent his career in product sales and marketing, spanning several industries.
