The staff in the Oriental Institute Museum were saddened to hear the news about Eleanor. She had worked closely with many of us on the Khorsabad reliefs in our collection. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to Dr. Guralnick and family.  Jack Green and staff of the OI Museum.

Eleanor would be angry with me if I didn't correct this:  she was truly the life of the AIA chapter in Chicago (not APA).

I am very sorry to hear of Eleanor's passing.  She was truly the life of the APA chapter in Chicago and Mediterranean archaeology in the region.  She knew so much and her work on Greek kouroi is seminal.  It was a privilege and great pleasure to know her.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Eleanor was a wonderful person who played an active role in the life of the Oriental Institute. Through her work at the Chicago Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America (the AIA), Eleanor brought many fascinating speakers for co-sponsored lectures at the Oriental Institute. But most of all, Eleanor was a true scholar, whose curiosity and love of learning always shone through. She devoted years to the challenge of making sense out of the many fragments of Assyrian reliefs in the store-rooms of the OI Museum, and was always happy to share her knowledge with others. I remember talking with her on many occasions about art and the ancient Near east and archaeology in general.
All of us here at the Oriental Institute will miss Eleanor greatly, and we offer our sincerest condolences to her family.

I knew Eleanor from my work in the art & history of the Ancient Near East. She was so nice and helpful and produced such useful articles.

To my cousins, I know that we have only met at cousins clubs, but you have made deep impressions on my son Marc Bowers when he was very young on Dinosaur bones. You sent him a magazine on Archological Digs and he would read it religously.  But that helped him in his artwork later on.  But now there are 2 important people missing in his life.  And I know that Cousin Eleanor is looking down and saying to the family that everything is all right now.  We as a family must get together I hope that someday we can get together soon,

I am so sorry to hear about Eleanor's death. We shared membership on the board of the Classical Art Society of the Art Institute of Chicago and I truly wondered at Eleanor's knowledge and expertise in the field of archeology. She started a program of introducing students to Greek pottery through shards and everyone enjoyed the experience of putting together a pot.

My profound condolences go to Dr. Sidney Guralnick and the family.  I met Dr. Eleanor Guralnick on April 27, 2012, during our Department's Spring 2012 luncheon for which she helped in inviting an excellent speaker; I am very grateful for her help. I vividly remember her being in high-spirits and enjoying the presentation.  Dr. Eleanor Guralnick had a great family and life, supporting both careers of herself and Dr. Sidney Guralnick, who was the provost of Illinois Institute of Technology. We all will miss her greatly.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Dr. Sidney Guralnick and the rest of the family. Dr. Eleanor Guralnick was a special lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
