Carole Jean Talbot

Carole Jean (Johnson) Talbot, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 30, 2023, at her cherished Northfield, Illinois home, where she had resided for over five decades. She was 90 years old.

Carole's journey began in Springfield, Illinois, on April 15, 1933, where she was born into a world that would soon be touched by her warmth and kindness. She embarked on her academic pursuits at Western Illinois University, where she not only cultivated her knowledge but also found the love of her life, Eugene Clifford Talbot, whom she married on June 11, 1961. Together, they created a legacy of love that will endure for generations.

Carole and Gene were blessed with three wonderful children. Elizabeth, their eldest, was not only their daughter but also Carol's devoted caregiver for the past decade. Charles and his wife Peggy, in turn, brought four sons into the world: Mitchell, Matthew, Cristian, and Ethan. Martha and her husband James added to the family with their three sons, Devon, Owen, and Quinlan. Carol's love for children extended beyond her own family, as she dedicated over 25 years of her life to teaching in the Winnetka public school system, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives.

Among Carole's passions was the simple joy of curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee, finding solace and wisdom within the pages. Additionally, she and Gene crafted unforgettable memories with their children and seven grandchildren at their vacation home in Galena, Illinois, a place filled with laughter, love, and the shared bonds of family.

Carole and Gene's unwavering faith led them to be active members of The Community Church of Wilmette for over half a century. Their commitment to their faith was a testament to their strong values and sense of community.

A memorial service to celebrate Carole's life will be held at 11:00 AM on September 9, 2023, at The Community Church of Wilmette, 1020 Forest Avenue, Wilmette, Illinois, 60091. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carole's name to Beacon Place, a cause serving children, family and community.
