Barbara Wagner, 85, nee Saffer, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late Louis and Tobey Saffer, Barbara was born in the west side of Chicago, Illinois. She graduated Austin High School and was a frequent student and resident artist at the Evanston Art Center. Among her many talents and accomplishments, Barbara was a skilled tap dancer, masterful cook, self taught accountant, and owner of a multitude of businesses not excluding nursery care, dry cleaning, and commercial landscaping. Her larger than life personality exhibited itself frequently as head canasta honcho and as an unabashed flirter.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Eli Wagner; devoted mother to Gary and Danny; proud bubbe of Jake, Ben, Zach, William, and Noah; and one loving aunt to Steffani. Barbara will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Funeral service Monday, August 21, 1PM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette. Interment Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish United Fund (www.juf.org) or PAWS Chicago (www.pawschicago.org).
