Barbara P. Cohen, nee Kaplan, 84. Devoted mother of Helene Cohen-Gilbert (Dennis Gilbert), dear sister of Jeanette Sugar, and the late William Kaplan. Caring aunt of Lori Sugar and Judah Leblang. Beloved daughter of the late Hyman and Harriet Kaplan.
Barbara will always be remembered for her love of Deaf people and ASL, her dreams, her strength, and her fighting survivor's spirit. She loved God, poetry, books and being a great mom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a Deaf-related cause (programs that serve people who are Deaf Senior Citizens with Dementia) or a Deaf Culture related service agency of your choice.
Services are private. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
