Remembering  Dr Lazar today.  Great and fond memories floods my heart.  Today’s reflection is on his humorous personality, his smile, and his deep care and love for others as I take my morning run.  🩵

Dear Dr. Lazar was truly an angel on earth.  He cared for me for years, accepted my plea to care for my sister and finally, my mother.  He carried me through very hard times as caregiver for them.  When my mom was asked to leave her assisted living facility due to advanced health challenges, Dr. Lazar found a way to get her care at a nursing home, despite her being on medicaid.  He continued to be her doctor there and called on her until her death 58 days later.
I moved away after her death and followed him for many years on his jurney.  I just learned of his passing.
Dr. Lazar remains in my heart as one of the finest, most generous and kindest humans I have known. 
Rest in Peace, wonderful friend.

I’ve been lost without him. I really loved him. 
once when he walked into the room I said nice shoes doc. 
He said they belong to his dead neighbor across the street . His wife said he just bought them and they were very expensive. 
I use to run across to help whenever she called me. 
I have been know to wait hours to see him , before he went to DMG.

I am sorry I am hearing of his passing so late. My father was friends with Dr. Lazar. And because of him, and him solely, I am still alive today. My mom and now late father have told the story several times of how he single handedly saved my life. He was my mother and fathers doctor for quite some time. 

The world lost an incredible human. My thoughts are with you all. 

I taught school for 12 years including 2 years at Bateman in Chicago, where I met Aaron in 1970. 

He was the best student I ever had.

He was very intelligent and quick with his answers.

Mostly I saw him in P.E, where I coached after school athletics.

He was a good athlete and always captain of his team.

I had a little bit of contact after school and on the internet.

We exchanged a few emails and sometimes posted on the same outside entry.

I am saddened at his passing and wonder if their is anything I can contribute?

My son was the first transgender patient Dr. Lazar had.  Upon learning the fact that my son was transgender, he handled it  badly. But he immediately realized he handled it  badly, and he spent the next years of his life learning more and doing better.  His default attitude was kindness and grace, so he was horrified at his misstep.  He gave me so much help in that initial confusing time.  My son learned even the nicest people can say the wrong thing, and that forgiveness is so important.  Especially in the face of repentance.  Rest In Peace.  Your memory is a blessing.

I am more than saddened and heartbroken to hear of Dr. Lazar's passing.  I was first introduced to Dr. Lazar after returning to Illinois during a divorce and was referred to him.  He was my physician, along with my autistic daughter and another daughter.  I have lived in four different states, I have four children and have had more than my share of doctors, both primary and specialists.  I can count on one hand the number of doctors that I feel are extraordinary.  Dr. Lazar was one of those doctors. His intuition and just plain brain smarts made him stand out from all others. I always felt safe and confident when he was treating me or one of my children.  I never second guessed his diagnosis or treatment.  I send my deepest condolences to his family and please know that he touched my life in a way that I will never forget.

Although we recently had become neighbors of Aaron and Brynn, Aaron had a profound impact on us in a very short period of time.  He truly demonstrated his caring and compassion and friendship as I recovered from a major illness just last year.  Brynn, we are grateful for your and Aaron's friendship.  Mat and I will hold you and Aaron in our thoughts and memories for the rest of our lives.  We pray for your comfort in the weeks and months ahead.

Dear Aaron you were a wonderful human being, father and doctor. When you  were a youngster, I knew your parents Ruth and Lenny. They were very good friends.
May you rest in peace.

Aaron was my second cousin, and sadly, I never got to know him. We were Facebook friends and I spoke with him only once several months ago, after my Aunt Lenore told me about him. I know my Mom was very close with his Mom Ruthie, and I remember seeing many pictures of them smiling at camp and what appeared to be happy times together. My Mom always spoke very fondly of Ruthie as my grandmother spoke fondly of her sister Clara.   

The more I read about Aaron, his biography and after speaking to some of his closer cousins, the more I wish I had connected with him earlier, I'm sure we would have become more than cousins. 

My sincere condolences to his family at this time of their most devastating loss. It also seems the world has prematurely lost a wonderful human being.   

 

Aaron Lazar was an outstanding doctor and I was blessed to be his patient for 20 years. He had integrity, was compassionate, and had a wonderful sense of humor.  My sincere condolences to his family.

My condolences to the family of our dear Dr and friend, Aaron Lazar.  Dr Lazar was referred to me by another Dr over 30 years ago.  I have yet to find another Dr and probably won’t at the level of respect and treatment my family received by Dr Lazar.  We shared kindred spirits.   I remember his eyes lit up when I shared  my joy of running and my love for God with him.  He labored faithfully in the vineyard of the Lord by giving, sharing, and caring.   He will be sorely missed by many but  God brings comfort to those who morn.  “Weeping May tarry for the night but joy comes with the morning.” (Psalms 30:5) 
Memories are paramount so lean on them and allow them to flood your soul.  Rest on Dr., rest on…

I fondly remember how much joy Aaron had at the Apostolic Faith Church participating in praise and worship.  He was my friend and we spent time encouraging each other through our respective challenges. I love how he loved and respected Brynn!

I called him Bro. He called me Sistah. I am a Dodger fan he was a Sox fan. I am a Browns fan. He was a BEARS fan. He was the only person I knew who actually had more knowledge about Alzheimer's Disease than I did. What a man! What a human being! I love him so.  He will always be in my heart for I am thankful G-d saw fit to grace Bryns life with Dr. Aharon Lazar.

In this sorrowful time, we would like to extend to you our heartfelt condolences. We are honored that we could provide care and companionship to Aaron and your family on his final journey. May our Lord comfort you and your loved ones.

Aaron was such an interesting person to talk to.  He always leaned into the conversation and asked questions, giving you his full attention.  That's a rare gift in today's often distracted world. 

Aaron is gone too soon, but he fought so bravely, and leaves behind an amazing through the many lives he touched - from his family and friends to his patients.  

God bless and keep him on his journey home.
