3/20/1965 - 6/20/2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Scott Charles Norcutt, who left peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on June 20, 2023 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we grieve, we take comfort in Scott’s freedom from all suffering, and the blessed assurance and hope of everlasting life in Christ Jesus – that Scott will forever dwell in the presence of his Lord and Savior. Scott lived a life full of achievements and adventures, all while leaving a legacy of loyalty, stoicism, and steadfastness with those whom he encountered. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Scott grew up in multiple states, primarily New York, but also Virginia in his younger years. Scott is a 1983 graduate of Kingston High School in Kingston, NY, and attended University at Buffalo the following fall. In 1984, he enlisted in the Army through the ROTC Simultaneous Membership Program through Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Scott transferred from the Army Reserves to the New York Army National Guard in January 1986. He then continued on to complete the Aviation Officers Basic Course in 1987 and Initial Entry Rotary Wing Flight School in 1988 through the United States Army; this initiated Scott’s career as a helicopter pilot. Scott completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with the University of Buffalo during this time. In 1989, Scott began a career with the New York State Police, and began flying for the NYSP shortly after finishing academy. Unfortunately, ten years into his career, he was involved in a serious helicopter accident that led him into early retirement from NYSP in early 2003. Scott then spent 19 years working for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), retiring in January 2022 as Deputy Assistant Federal Security Director of Screening. Scott served in the Army National Guard for a total of 27 years. Scott served primarily with the 1st Battalion, 142d Aviation, flying the UH-1 Huey, AH-1 Cobra and the UH-60 Black Hawk. In 2004, he deployed for 12 months with 1-142nd AVIM Bn in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He notably took command of the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion in 2008 and retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 2011. Scott was the devoted husband to Connie (nee Woods) Norcutt. Loving father to Kayleen Lindauer, Bethany Norcutt and Jeffrey Norcutt. Dear grandfather to Cameron Scott. Son of the late Charles and Margaret Norcutt. Loving brother to Lianne (Daniel) Finger. Son in law of Caren (the late Leroy) Woods. Brother-in-law of Tammy (Shawn) Wolcott and Roy (Jennifer) Woods. Scott is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit the family on Saturday June 24, 2023 from 4-7pm at Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home 1671 Maple Rd. Williamsville, NY 14221. A private burial ceremony will take place at WNY National Cemetery on Friday July 14th, and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday July 15, 2023 at 10:30am at Amherst Alliance Church 3915 Millersport Highway. We would like to express our continued gratitude for the condolences and support received throughout Scott’s struggle with cancer and during our time of loss. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amherst Alliance Church or Thunderun Aviation Corporation. The "Scott Norcutt Fund'' will be used to support future families or patients in need of medical transport in honor of Scott's generosity and passion for aviation.
