Peggy was born and raised in Tarrytown, New York, the daughter of Thomas and Kathleen Nee. She was the second oldest of their four children.
Peggy married Ronald Washburn in 1969. Peggy and Ron moved several times for work, living considerable periods in Delmar, New York and Lewiston, New York.
After they retired, Peggy and Ron moved to their beloved Bolton Landing, New York, living in a house on Lake George, where for years Peggy hosted, entertained and fed countless friends and family.
Peggy was devoted to her six grandchildren who affectionately called her Nanny. She loved teaching them to cook and bake, taking them camping and spending time together. A devoted Yankee fan, Peggy particularly enjoyed introducing her grandchildren to baseball. She attended countless dance recitals and hockey, baseball and basketball games cheering them all on. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Peggy loved to travel and was an avid crafter and needle pointer. She enjoyed making gifts for her friends and family. Her iconic Christmas sweatshirts are still being passed on to family members. Peggy was also an excellent cook and baker and her Christmas cookies were in great demand every year.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Michelle (Joe) Allen, her son Brian, and former daughter in law, Susan, her grandchildren Brandon, Morgan, Alexandra and Cameron Washburn, and Patrick and Sean Allen. She is also survived by her brothers Bill (Jackie) Nee, Tom (Noreen) Nee and sister Susan Nee, as well as many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Sully.
