She was 56 years old, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories. Laura was born on September 24th, 1967 in Buffalo, NY. She graduated from Williamsville South High School in 1985 and then Indiana University with a BA in 1889. Upon graduating college and moving back to Amherst, NY, Laura stared work at Father Baker Hall, eventually began work for the Town of Amherst in 1995, where she held various position, most recently Laura was Town of Amherst Youth Centers Director, dealing with youth and elderly programs. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her compassion, generosity, and willingness to help those in need.
Laura is survived by her mother, Margaret Ehrenreich of Amherst, NY; brother, Kevin Ehrenreich, nephew, Kyle Ehrenreich, both of Duluth, MN; aunt’s & uncle’s, Kathy & Don Bauer of CA and Jim & Debbie Collard of TX, Susan Ehrenreich and Norine Ehrenreich, numerous cousins and their children.
She is preceded in death by her father, Leo Ehrenreich.
Laura has been an active part of the Swimkins Artistic Swimming family for 42 years. Her love for synchro began when she joined Swimkins as an athlete at 10 years old. She was a part of the team for 9 years. Laura then continued her synchro career in the collegiate program as a founding member of the Indiana University’s synchro team. In 1989, she joined the Swimkins coaching staff, training the 13 and over age groups. Laura soon became an instrumental part of Swimkins. She enhanced that role when she became the team administrator in 2009. She has also served on the East Zone Synchro Board in several positions. She was the Zone president for two years and currently serves at the Officials chair. Laura also provided support for the athletes and programs of the Special Olympics, serving as volunteer coordinator and on executive board for over 20 years, contributing her time for events and organizational efforts. Laura has been active in the Town of Amherst Youth Foundation on committees and fund raising as well on many town and and county task forces.
Traveling with her family to warm destinations to enjoy the beaches and snorkeling has been her means of relaxing and recharging for all her activities.
Laura will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at 12:00 PM at St Leo’s the Great, 855 Sweet Home Rd. Amherst, NY, followed A Celebration of Life Gathering at 1:00 at The Williamsville Youth & Family Center, 5005 Sheridan Drive Amherst NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Swimkins Synchro, Special Olympics NY, or Amherst Youth Foundation in Laura's memory.
