Jim was always kind to everyone he met, with a constant smile. As large as our family is, I never saw him mess up a name, and he always asked after everyone in the family with sincerity. 

My main memory of Uncle Jim, was when Aunt Eileen began to bring Jim to the Sunday and holiday dinners at Grams. It could be a daunting situation for newbies to the family, as the Murphy boys "initiated" them to the family. Uncle Jim handled the boys with a smile and a laugh. Dinner at the "kids" table was blast, watching the "adults" at the big table. Uncle Jim will be missed.

Uncle Jim always had a great sense of humor and we alway had a good laugh when we visited with him . Loved visits at the cottage. 
I loved talking with him about my mother who he was neighbors with her in their youth in South Buffalo.

Jim was the type of guy that when he met you, he made you feel like you were old friends. Over family dinners and holidays, he always made gatherings intimate with his friendly demeanor and eagerness to reminisce. He was genuinely happy to chat, to know you, and to find out how you’d been since the last encounter. A devoted father, I remember him hugging his kids each time they met like he hadn’t seen them in years, even though it might have been since Tuesday. He was good to dogs. He was kind to grandchildren. He was always up for a beer. He made a room happier when he was in it.

 The first time I met Jim was when I was a young girl spending  the night at Eileen’s South Buffalo apartment.  Jim had come over for dinner. Jim was so nice and spoke to me about things that I would find interesting.  He was very kind, as always.  I remember Eileen  was proud of the chocolate mousse she made.  When Jim left, Eileen walked him outside.  They spent quite a while making out, which I could see through the window of the first floor apartment.  I teased Eileen a lot!  She seemed a tiny bit embarrassed, but very, very happy. 
  When I was in my early 20’s I was in a serious relationship that was going very well; the boy kept trying to set future plans and I did consider that he could be the one.  One night I went Christmas shopping and on the way home my car broke down.   It was snowing steadily, but not a big storm.  I called the boyfriend to come get me.  He said it was snowing so he was not coming all the way to the Boulevard mall.  I called Jim and he came to get me right away - only concerned that I was ok.   I broke up with the boy.  I wanted a future with someone more like Jim, someone kind and dependable.  Happily, I did find the right boy!  Thanks Jim!   
  

Dale & I have fond memories of our visits with Jim & Eileen at the cottage in Canada.  We enjoyed any visit with Jim, always good conversation, easy to talk to with many laughs.
My father was recently telling us a story of Jim’s stag party where he (Mike),  Tim & Jack hung Jim out the 2nd story window of the Ford Hotel in Cheektowaga & just “shook him a bit” to be sure he would take good care of Eileen! 
My mother remembers Jim always having a smile on his face while watching Eileen take care of things. 
He will be missed by all! Safe Home Jim! 

A few weeks prior to proposing to Molly, I drove over to Jim's house  -this was when he was living on Delaney -on my lunch break to ask for his blessing.  When I did, he asked me "Are you sure?"  Then he told me to come in and have a beer.  It was 11:00am. We sat in his kitchen for an hour and he shared more with me than Molly would likely have wanted.  Just doing his due diligence, I suppose. 
He'll be dearly missed.


Uncle Jim had a great sense of humor.  There was always a laugh in every conversation I ever had with him.  The last time I saw him he was out to lunch with a friend.  He was smiling and enjoying a big beer.  That is my last memory of him and it is a good one.  May he rest in peace!   

Several times we visited Jim while Jack and I were in Florida.  We always had such a nice time with him.   Always good conversation and good laughs.  Too many good memories to list.  Jim will be missed.      

I remember sitting in Jim and Eileen’s cottage in Canada watching the World Cup, it must have been like 2002. He loved to comment on the hairstyles and tactics of the players. Another time we played poker and used cheese itz in place of poker chips. I would occasionally walk to his house across the street from my high school to get lunch and chat with uncle Jim. It seemed he knew the family of every teacher in Buffalo. 

Dear Jimmy, Molly, Joan and Patrick, My sympathy on the death of your dad.  I was just thinking of your mom and dad when I set up my calendar for 2021. I still keep track off their anniversary.  I was the matron of honor at their wedding and still have and use the silver tray your mom gave me . Somehow I lost track of your dad when he moved and I feel bad about that.  Tom and I had planned to go for a Fish Fry with  him  but that never happened because of Tom's declining health.  We lost Tom  in August 2019. Seems like Heaven is getting a little crowded! There are simply too many memories but my favorites are the love he had for your mom, his booming laugh and how he would say "Oh Molly". He was a kind man who enjoyed his family and although he is gone, he will not be forgotten ❤️

Deepest sympathy to Jimmy, Pat, Mollie on Joanie on loss of your Dad.   Good memories of times spent with you all at your Summer House at Niagra on the Lake, many moons ago.   My he Rest In Peace.

Of all the memories I have of your father, this week stands out the most.  The times at the beach were unforgettable.  “No thank you Mr Carney... I don’t want my buns toasted!”  I’m so sorry for your loss.
