I met Irving and Lorraine at an opera dinner. It was my first time attending. I was thrilled to meet both of them. Such brilliant people. We came to realize that Irving knew my late father-in-law. They were a lovely couple. We had some interesting talks. They had so much wisdom and knowledge. I tried to stay in touch over the years. As I was writing Christmas cards, I was saddened to find both had past away. I loved talking with them. I know they will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Irving and Lorraine. Your whole family is in my prayers this holiday season. May the Perpetual lights shine upon them.

We are so sorry that you have lost such dear parents and grandparents. We will miss Irv and Lorraine but never forget them.

Irv, Lorraine and I have been friends for sixty years. We shared visits and stayed in each other’s homes, most recently in Buffalo in 2018. They both had a wealth of interests and our conversations ranged through politics, history, science, genealogy, and of course family. 

My husband Bo treasures his autographed copy of Irv’s book on Buffalo postal history. I treasure my autographed geology books. Irv was my thesis advisor and main job reference and I owe him my career as a petroleum geologist here in Houston.

Irv and I met when I took his Historical Geology course as an elective my freshman year. He was such a good teacher and I enjoyed the subject so much that I changed my major (and my life). I met Lorraine at the same time Irv did - in Mineralogy class. Lorraine and I got talking about why an art major would take a tough geology course and she explained gems to me. 

Thank you for putting the wonderful family photos on the memorial site – a chance to see all of your family and a great trip down memory lane. Speaking of which, one of my favorite stories is an oldie, back when Lorraine was working on advanced coursework in architecture. She was going out one day to take photos of some of Buffalo’s historic homes using Irv’s camera. Irv being Irv, instructions were given in great detail on how to use the camera. He confessed to me later that he had forgotten to put film in it. I also remember him calling her Rosie the Riveter when she took a welding course. A lovely couple with great senses of humor and romantic enough to have picnics at Letchworth park on the anniversaries of their engagement.

I was so sorry to read of both of your parents passing in today's paper.  Our Dads stayed in touch over the years and I recall fondly reading your parent's newsletters that arrived each holiday season.  I know my Dad loved having another "science guy" next door when we lived on Fayette.

My husband Bud and I lived next door to Lorraine and Irv on Fayette for several years.  After Bud and I moved to Clarence, the four of us continued our friendship.  When Bud passed away, Lorraine and Irv and I decided to have lunch together periodically.  Our lunches went on monthly for the past 10 years.

Lorraine and Irv were the best neighbors ever and two of the best and most interesting friends I have ever had.  I shall miss them both dearly.

I am so blessed to share over 90yrs of memories with my brother, Irv.
We grew up in a loving Christian home in Dunkirk, NY.
Our parents taught us  many board games, plus our favoite card game; Pinochle. 
We celebrated each holiday with Mom's special food; and Dad's surprise gifts.  I remember how excited Irv was when he got the shiny
red bike for his birthday.  He was valedictorian of the class of 1943; and received his two degress at the University of Buffalo. 
He was the 1st person in our family to receive his Doctorate from
Syracuse University.
After I married in 1950 and had 3 beautiful daughters ; Irv became their favorite uncle. He showered them with gifts.He took us on a wonderful trip to Washington, DC.
After he married Lorraine he invited me along for a trip to Bermuda.
Thru these many years, we spent Christmas together and many other special occasions.
Irv was always so loving and generous to all of my family.
We will cherish all the happy memories we have of him.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Dr. and Mrs. Tesmer.  Although I attended UB, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Tesmer on many local field trips with Dr. Beuhler.  I always had my dog-eared copy of the Geology of Erie County.  Dr. Tesmer was a very kind and gracious educator and will be deeply missed.
