I’m very sorry and send my condolences to the Schaeffer family in learning of George’s passing. George was a fine man and old friend.

In the 70’s, as I began my career in food service sales in Buffalo, George was always a great mentor and offered advice and sincere friendship to help a young , aspiring manager excel. His guidance was most effective and appreciated, something I’ve never forgotten.

As I progressed, was promoted and moved to SW Ohio, I’ve never forgotten George and his assurances of nose to the grindstone and follow up, follow up and be sure the customer remains a customer for life.

Again, my sincere condolences and wishes to you  for peace and comfort .

George and I first met one another in 1995, shortly after both of us had experienced being “Right-sized” from our jobs. George was among the first folks that came to my small studio in Buffalo Art Studios at my first attempt at teaching pottery. From the very first it was obvious the bug had bit him and his interest in learning the whole process and assisting me in developing the pottery was truly a God sent. As we grew out of the facilities and decided to strike out on our own, George was trusted and honorable confidant and business partner. Always with the prowess on the business side of things he indispensably managed the business for years with his beautiful tender yet firm personality and he is a primary reason the Buffalo Clayart exists today.

He is among the finest men I ever met, and his vision, generosity and humor will be solely missed.

I was heartbroken to hear of the death of George.  He was such a warm, friendly, and welcoming presence in my life and the lives of so many.  

Regrettably, I must be out-of-town this Friday & Saturday, so I will miss the visitation and the service.

My heart goes out the entire family, former co-workers, and his friends, whom he all held dear.  But especially to his wife Cathy.

George was a very special person, with a heart and soul of gold.  Rest in peace my friend!

I am so sorry to hear of George's passing this past weekend, and my condolences to all who knew him.  I first met George in 2012, and we quickly became friends.  He helped me forge new relationships with the local restaurant association, and was always sending me articles, jokes, and invitations to things he thought I should attend. When I retired, he treated me to lunch - and came to my retirement party.  Rest in Peace, my friend.  You will be sorely missed here on earth, but I know at least one person, Peter Longo, will be welcoming you with open arms.

My condolences to the Schaeffer Family as well as George's many friends. I met George later in life when we were both doing family research. I only wish it was sooner and rather than later. Rest in Peace.
