Beloved husband of 65 years to Mary Lou (nee Fiegl) Lavocat; devoted father of Luann Thompson, Jeffrey (Maria Del Castello) Lavocat and Judy (Robert) Off; cherished grandfather of Johanna (Gary Casazza) Thompson, Simon (Karina Bunyik) Thompson, Albert (Natalyn) Thompson, Camille (Joshua) Swindell, Amanda (Kurt Haycook) Off and Sophie Off; adored great-grandfather of Hugo, Charlee, Hannah, Jace, Esker and soon to be Johnathan Edward; loving son of the late Simon and Florence Lavocat; predeceased by 6 sisters and 4 brothers; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lavocat was a veteran of the US Army whose service during the Korean War earned him several awards including the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. To honor his life and show appreciation for his service, Congressman Brian Higgins presented him with a flag flown over the United States Capitol in his name.
Relatives and friends may visit Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home, 1671 Maple Rd., Williamsville, NY 14221 on Wednesday (May 22, 2024) from 2-4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 1700 N. French Rd., Getzville, NY 14068 on Thursday (May 23, 2024) at 10:30am. Please assemble at church. Entombment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
